DERRY — Incumbent GOP state Sen. James Rausch easily won re-election in the state Senate District 19 race.
Rausch showed impressive preliminary vote totals over Democrat Christopher Reisdorf, 15,894 to 10,455.
District 19 includes Derry, Hampstead and Windham.
Derry voters gave Rausch 8,023 votes; Windham, 4,855 votes; and Hampstead, 3,016.
Reisdorf took 6,398 of Derry’s votes, with Windham at 2,394 and Hampstead with 1,663 votes.
For Rausch, 65, it was successful day at the polls.
The retired veterinarian had family support as daughter Heidi stood outside the District 2 polling place at Calvary Bible Church with her 3-year-old chocolate Labrador Bella standing nearby.
Bella is a regular fixture on election days in Derry and typically sports a “Vote for Rausch” shirt.
For Rausch, winning another senate term will help him continue his work to advocate for the Interstate 93 expansion including Exit 4A and will also advocate for small businesses to help create jobs.
