Holiday decorating event at library

Derry Public Library hosts a holiday decorating event on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. The program is free.

Home decorator Kerry Durkee will lead the workshop and demonstrate how to create holiday table decor, centerpieces and holiday looks for the mantel. Call the library to register at 432-6140.

Kids Coop takes Opera House stage

Kids Coop Theatre presents the musical “Annie Get Your Gun” on stage at the Derry Opera House, 29 West Broadway.

Performances are Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 10 at 1 and 7 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students. Visit kids-coop-theatre.org for tickets and information.

Community resource forum for seniors

ServiceLink Resource Center presents a community resources information session for older adults, sponsored by the Derry Police Senior Advisory Committee. The event is set for Nov. 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Marion Gerrish Community Center, 39 West Broadway.

Guest speakers include Rockingham ServiceLink program director Connie Young and Derry’s Human Services administrator Jill McLaughlin.

Topics to be covered include aging, disabilities, illness, family caregiving, housing, financial and legal assistance, and insurance information.

Sign up now for Outstanding Teen

The ninth annual Miss New Hampshire Outstanding Teen contest is set for February 2013; contestants are invited to register now.

Contestants vie for scholarships and the right to compete at the Miss America Outstanding Teen next August in Orlando.

The program is for girls ages 13 to 17. The deadline to enter is Nov. 30. Visit missnh.org/outstanding-teen for registration information.

Veterans benefits seminar planned

Birch Heights retirement facility, 7 Kendall Pond Road, plans a veterans benefits seminar on Nov. 10 at 10 a.m.

Benefits experts will offer information on any changes in veterans benefits including little known tax-free benefits and other VA aid programs.

A continental breakfast is included. Space is limited; register by calling 216-6341.

Town sets holiday hours

The tax collector and town clerk announce holiday hours this month.

Both offices will be closed Nov. 12, 22 and 23 for Veterans Day and Thanksgiving observances.

On Nov. 21, both offices will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be no evening hours that day. Call for information at 432-6105.
