Hyla Brook series begins May 15

The Robert Frost Farm’s Hyla Brook Reading Series opens May 15 and features poet and literary critic Stephen Burt and Hyla Brook poet Stephen Scaer. It runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Frost Farm is located at 122 Rockingham Road. After the presentation all audience members are invited to share their work. The series is free and open to the public.

Super Summer Sampler set

Derry Parks and Recreation presents “Super Summer Sampler”May 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gilbert H. Hood Middle School, 5 Hood Road. Families can learn all about activities, sports, clubs and other organizations offered in town throughout the summer.

There will be more than 20 organizations represented, carnival-style games, and live demonstrations. There will also be opportunities to register for summer programs.

At 5:30 p.m., children’s musician Steve Blunt will perform. Other groups attending are Boy Scouts, Center for Life Management, Community Alliance for Teen Safety, Create-Your-Own-Camp at the Derry School District, Derry Boys and Girls Club, Derry Judo Club, Red Star Twirlers, Salvation Army, Taylor Library, Wolverines Football and Cheer, Derry Public Library and much more.

Registrations for town summer programs and events are now being taken at the Recreation office at 31 West Broadway, or call 432-6136.

Derry Garden Club to sell plants May 17

The Derry Garden Club’s annual plant sale is May 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Masonic Hall, 58 East Broadway. The sale will be held rain or shine. There will be perennials, herbs and other shrubs for sale. Proceeds go to support the club’s civic projects.

Duo offers musical show May 18

Birch Heights retirement facility, 7 Kendall Pond Road, offers a musical event featuring the duo “John Damborsio and Carol” May 18 at 4 p.m.

The show is followed by a dinner. Call 425-7755.
