Hyla Brook reading series begins

The Robert Frost Farm’s Hyla Brook reading series kicks off the season May 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the poet’s Derry homestead on Route 28. Guest is poet and literary critic Stephen Burt along with Hyla Brook poet Stephen Scaer.

Library hosts cooking program

Derry Public Library hosts “Cooking and Gardening With Herbs” May 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the library. Chef Liz Barbour of the Creative Feast leads a slide presentation on how to use herbs in cooking. She will present information on all sorts of ornamental and edible plants and will give tips on how to prepared herbs in various recipes.

Following the slide presentation is a cooking demonstration and sampling of three delicious recipes featuring fresh herbs. Enjoy a cooking demonstration of two recipes and samples for all to taste. Recipes will be available to take home.

Knives and knife sharpeners will be available for purchase. Because handouts and food samples will be offered at this program, registration is required and limited to the first 35 people who register. Call 432-6140.
