DERRY — The Upper Room, a Family Resource Center, received a $593 donation from The Goddard School in Derry.
The donation comes after the Goddard School hosted its Family Fun Expo last month. The Upper Room was chosen as the prime charity that would benefit from the proceeds.
The Expo showcased many vendors and featured live entertainment, highlighting local programs such as martial arts classes, soccer demos, and baton twirling.
The Upper Room is a nonprofit organization providing educational programs and services which strengthen individuals and families in the community. The donated funds were raised through vendor booth rentals, an art silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, and other raffles held during the event.
“The Goddard School was happy to partner with The Upper Room during our annual Family Fun Expo,” said Samantha Baldini, Goddard School owner. “Every year, we host this event to bring vendors and families in the community together. We are thrilled that this year we were able to raise $593 for The Upper Room and the important work they do to support families in our community. We look forward to working with them again in the future.”
Upper Room staff members said they were thankful for the help.
“The Upper Room would like to extend our thanks to The Goddard School for this generous donation,” said Kimberly Bavaro, executive director of The Upper Room. “These monies will go a long way in providing important support for the children and families we serve. This donation will help fill funding gaps in programs such as Greater Derry Family Outreach, our in-home parenting education and counseling program; and community service learning opportunities, which provides community service opportunities for youth.”
