Officials volunteer at MooreMart event

On Feb. 16, MooreMart sponsored its seventh annual S’Mores packing event.

Volunteers from throughout New Hampshire packed and shipped 1,020 care packages. Those packages contained requested supplies to members of the armed services serving in the Middle East.

They also included humanitarian aid sent to members of the New Hampshire National Guard, which will be distributed throughout Afghanistan. The shipment brings the total number of care packages shipped by MooreMart to members of the U.S. Armed Services to 53,612 and the total amount of humanitarian aid to 61/2 tons.

The volunteers Feb. 16 included members of U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and Gov. Maggie Hassan’s staffs, Sens. Peggy Gilmour and Bette Lasky, and Hassan.

The governor has been a MooreMart volunteer since 2008 and has been instrumental in expanding MooreMart’s outreach program throughout New Hampshire.

MooreMart’s next packing event will be hosted by the New Hampshire National Guard at the National Guard Armory in Nashua June 6-8.
