Derry Parks and Recreation announces a permanent change in how the public is to contact the department’s main office.

Starting now, the only way to reach the Parks and Recreation office is by calling 432-6136. All other office phone numbers will be permanently disconnected.

In addition, contact information is available by email at or at

Office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Chili cookoff planned Feb. 17

As part of the upcoming Frost Festival schedule of events, a chili cookoff is planned on Feb. 17 from noon to 3 p.m. at Gallien’s Beach at Beaver Lake.

Contestants are needed to enter the contest; prizes will go to the top chili chefs.

Bel Airs set to perform

The Bel Airs present a concert at Birch Heights Retirement Community, 7 Kendall Pond Road, on March 2 at 7 p.m.

The group will present original doo-wop numbers like “In the Still of the Night” and “Silhouettes.”

The concert is free and open to all ages. Call 425-7755 for information.

Garden club to meet

The Derry Garden Club meets March 1 at 10 a.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Derry.

The program is “Creating the Comfortable Landscape” presented by member Paul Lynch, owner of PL Landscapes for Residential Landscape Design.
