---- — DERRY — Derry’s police force has three new officers.

Adam Seligman, Brian Beach and Raul Rivera were sworn in as new officers in a ceremony Jan. 4 at the police station on Municipal Drive.

Police Chief Edward Garone presided over the ceremony.

“It’s a great honor and privilege and welcome you as part of our extended family,” Garone told family members and friends in attendance.

Seligman comes to Derry after serving in the Air Force and then working as a firefighter at Andrews AFB in Maryland.

He has been a member of the Bow Fire Department since 2001, serving as an on-call firefighter.

Beach is a Texas native and moved to New Hampshire at the age of 13. He enlisted in the Marines Corps following graduation from high school and served three tours of duty in Iraq, attaining the rank of staff sergeant.

Rivera was raised in Lowell and now lives in Derry with his wife, Aggie, and two children. He is attending Hesser College in Manchester, working toward a degree in criminal justice.

All three will be part of the 160th full-time police academy, with an expected graduation date of April 12.

Garone welcomed all three to the Derry force.

“This is one of the most rewarding things we do,” he said. “It’s an important part of the Derry police department, bringing new numbers and new faces to the force.”
