The Derry Police Department host its winter blood drive on Jan. 11 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Promises to Keep, 199 Rockingham Road.
Local restaurants will provide food and donors receive a Derry police shirt and coupons.

Frost Festival planning underway
Snow is already falling in town and Frost Festival organizers are hoping the flakes keep flying for a while this season.
The annual Frost Festival is set for Feb. 15, 16 and 17 at locations all around town. The weekend schedule includes outdoor winter activities for families, including skating, sledding, hockey, cross-country skiing and much more.
There are also indoor events planned with more details to come.
“Frosty’s Dueling Pianos” takes place Saturday, Feb. 16, at Promises to Keep on Rockingham Road.
Tickets are on sale at $40 each with $10 of each ticket going to support the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Derry. Tickets are available at Derry Parks and Recreation at Veterans Hall or at the administrator’s office at the Derry Municipal Center.
Girl Scout information night set
Girls between the ages of 5 and 17 are invited to find out more about being a Girl Scout during an information night set for Jan. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at First Parish Church, 47 East Derry Road.
Adults are needed to serve as Scouting volunteers to receive training and learn marketable skills.
Girls Scouts of the Green and White Mountains serves more than 14,500 girls in New Hampshire and Vermont with more than 5,500 trained volunteers. For information, visit girlscouts.org or call 627-4158, Ext. 175.
Winter clothing donations welcome
Renew clothing ministry at Calvary Bible Church in East Derry is accepting donations of quality winter clothing, coats, boots and other accessories.
Donations can be placed in a plastic bag and placed in Renew’s donation bin outside the ministry’s door at the church, 145 Hampstead Road.
The next Renew clothing ministry event is set for Jan. 12 from 8 to 11 a.m.. Enter at the Calvary Bible Church sign and Renew is on the right. Call the church office at 434-1516.
Winter farmers market continues
The Derry Farmers Market continues into the winter on the first and third Saturday of every month at Upper Village Hall, 52 East Derry Road.
The market is held next on Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Local vendors offer seasonal products and handcrafted items, along with special activities and musical entertainment. For information call market director Beverly Ferrante at 434-8974 or visit the market at derry-ny.org.
Almost time to file for office
The Derry Cooperative School District seeks candidates for three open position on the School Board.
The filing period is Jan. 23 through Feb. 1. The board terms are for three years with an annual stipend of $1,500. Applicants must be residents of Derry and a registered voter.
Applications for the open district offices are available through the superintendent’s office at 18 South Main St. Elections for both town and school district offices are March 12.
Game time for seniors
Local seniors can enjoy game time at the Marion Gerrish Community Center.
Every Friday, there is a senior cribbage group at the center from 9 to 11 a.m. and on Tuesdays seniors can gather for a games group including Scrabble, Yahtzee and Boggle beginning at 12:30 p.m.
