Town Council Chairman Rick Metts reported that a Derry delegation met with Gov. John Lynch on Feb. 18 to discuss many topics pertinent to Derry, including Exit 4A and the educational funding situation. The one-hour meeting included Town Administrator Gary Stenhouse, School Board Chair man Brenda Willis and several state legislators from Derry.

Rabies clinic planned this month

Derry Parks and Recreation, Derry Animal Control, Derry Town Clerk's Office, Friends of the Derry Dog Park and Handel with Care Veterinary Clinic will host the fourth annual Rabies Clinic and Dog Licensing Day on March 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Alexander-Carr Park Lodge on Pierce Avenue.

The vaccination cost is $13 per animal. All dogs present must be leashed and cats must be in pet carriers. This year, Avid pet micro chips and registering will be offered for $30 per animal with registration.

The annual clinic is a fundraiser; sixty percent of the proceeds will benefit continuing improvements at the dog park. Also, licensing will be available for Derry residents. The fee for dogs is $7.50 for neutered/spayed; $10 for regular; and $3 for a senior citizen's first dog.
