East Derry’s Taylor Library invites children to sign up for available spots for the library’s popular “Polar Express” story hours.

This year’s events are Dec. 10, 11 and 12. Story hours begin each night at 6:30 and include the famous story “Polar Express” and visits with Santa Claus.

Teens, learn how to cook

Derry Public Library will host a cooking club for teens on Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. The club is held every other Tuesday.

Participants will learn to make delicious food and have time to be with friends. Call teen librarian Erin Robinson at 432-6140 for information.

Holiday open house set

Derry Public Library hosts its holiday open house on Dec. 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be music provided by “Let’s Play Music” students, holiday refreshments and gift ideas. Call 432-6140 for information.

Holiday fair has lots to offer

DERRY — The Nutfield Cooperative School hosts its holiday fair on Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school, located at First Parish Church, 47 East Derry Road.

There will be more than 20 vendors on hand to show off their items. There will also be raffles, a bake sale and local crafters and artisans. All money raised goes to support the Nutfield school, serving the community since 1969.

Visit the Festival of Trees

Birch Heights retirement facility on Kendall Pond Road hosts a Festival of Trees through Dec. 14.

Area businesses, medical centers, organizations and other agencies have contributed decorated trees with all proceeds going to Toys for Tots. Raffle tickets will be on sale for $5 to win a tree or bring a toy donation for a chance to win.

The Festival of Trees open house and tree raffle drawing is Dec. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. Meet Santa Claus and enjoy holiday specialties made by the Birch Heights chef. Trees can be viewed Monday through Friday, 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m. Call 425-7755 for information.

Teen Tech Thursday is Dec. 19

Derry Public Library hosts activities for teens including Teen Tech Thursdays. The next session is Dec. 19 at 3:30 p.m.

Teens will explore programs using laptops and iPads. Call 432-6140 to register.
