Library hosts paper crane workshop
DERRY — Head to Derry Public Library Saturday, March 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. for Lil' MDGs' third Thousand Cranes for Peace Origami Workshop. The workshop will be held in the Paul Collette Conference Room.
During this event, registered participants will be making origami paper cranes that will be sent for dedication at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum in Tokyo. You do not need to have prior experience with origami or folding paper cranes. Participants will receive instructions on folding on the day of the workshop. The goal is to fold 1,000 paper cranes.
To register for this activity, go to http://disneyparks.go.com, search for activities in zip code 03038, locate the activity Thousand Cranes for Peace Origami Workshop and follow instructions for registering. Before signing up, review the Disney posting in full to come prepared for this service activity appropriately.
To be verified for a free Disney ticket, you need to register through disneyparks.com. Each registered participant, who attends and complete the service activity, will be verified for a free theme park ticket.
As this is a very popular service opportunity, slots do fill up fast, so sign up quickly. If you find you are unable to attend the event after you register, remove yourself from this opportunity so it opens up room for other interested volunteers.
If you know how to fold origami paper cranes and would like to sign up to assist other volunteers at the workshop, e-mail Kristen McDonalds at kristen@lilmdgs.org or call 722-0414 to register yourself as an instructor for the Give A Day. Get A Disney Day opportunity.
