Sugar Plum Fair is Saturday

---- — EAST DERRY — First Parish Church’s Sugar Plum Fair will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 47 East Derry Road in East Derry.

There will be more than 20 outside craft vendors selling homemade goods, as well as the famous homemade pecans rolls baked that morning. The Sugar Plum Fair is also famous for the Cookie Walk, White Elephant Room and lunch.

The cookie walk, which may feature as many as 200 dozen cookies, has been known to sell out by noon.

First Parish Church is one of the only fairs in town that serves lunch. The lunch includes homemade soups and sandwiches. Setup, shopping and preparation happen on Friday with various volunteers.

Preparation of the Nissu bread (a Swedish bread) involves, rolling, braiding and baking on Friday evening. The making of the pecan rolls starts at 5 a.m. on Saturday.

When the fair opens at 9 a.m., the smell of the pecan rolls fills the entire building. People can find many bargains in the White Elephant room, as well as many holiday gifts from local crafters.
