Exhibit puts youth art talents on display

DERRY — Student creativity is on display all this month to honor the value of art education.

All Derry schools, along with Chester and Hampstead schools, are celebrating Youth Art Month with an art exhibit this month in the lobby of Pinkerton Academy’s Stockbridge Theatre.

Children in grades K-8 have artwork in the show.

Youth Art Month is an annual observance to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs.

Many communities across the state host similar art exhibits to put their young artists in the spotlight.

This is the second year for the local show in Derry.

Hundreds of works of art are on display including sculpture, painting, drawing and other three-dimensional works.

The exhibit’s opening reception brought out young artists and their families, along with educators and administrators.

Art work by students will be on display in the Stockbridge lobby through March 25.
