DERRY — The town now officially owns the parking lot at the corner of Birch Street and East Broadway.
The 19-space lot was part of a state upgrade project at that intersection, where the former Dandi-Lyons ice cream business once stood.
In 2010 the state performed major upgrades to the intersection and the lot.
The town of Derry maintained the property since the state finished its work in 2010.
Town councilors approved the transfer of the property from the state to the town at a meeting Oct. 2.
Public Works Director Mike Fowler said his department will continue to do maintenance including snow removal, striping of spaces, mowing and landscaping.
