Derry announces Halloween schedule of events

---- — DERRY — The town is planning its annual Halloween schedule of events, including a downtown trick-or-treat event and costume contests.

Derry’s Halloween schedule begins Oct. 20 with a costume parade and contest at Veterans Hall gym, 31 West Broadway.

There will be contests for children in costume in various categories, from infant up to 12 years of age.

Prizes will be awarded for the Most Creative, Spookiest and Judges’ Choice.

Doors open at 11 a.m., and the costume parade begins promptly at 11:30 a.m.

Immediately following at noon, downtown trick or treat is held at businesses and locations along Broadway, Crystal Avenue and Hood Commons.

Look for the orange pumpkin posters in business windows to see which merchants are participating this year.

Trick or treat bags are available through Parks and Recreation or the Derry Public Library.

Official Halloween trick-or-treat times are set for Oct. 31 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
