Councilors say no to water hike

(Continued)

The work is necessary to remove any sediment from the water lines that may accumulate. It is typically done every year by Derry Water Division employees.

The flushing program progresses from the Derry/Londonderry town line along Route 28 south and east across town. Heavy commercial water users will be notified by the town prior to work being done in their area.

Residential customers with special needs like in-house dialysis equipment should notify the town to make advance arrangements.

The work may cause intermittent periods of brown or rusty water. This is not a health concern, but it may affect taste and could cause staining of laundry. Some residual may enter and remain in the service lines.

Customers should run their service lines for several minutes until water runs clear. Call 432-6144 for information.
