Fishing derby set for May 4
The Derry Lions Club annual Kids Fishing Derby is set for May 4 from 8 a.m. to noon at Hood Pond. The event is held rain or shine.
Kids ages 3 to 15 are invited to participate in this annual event. Participant ribbons are given to the first 100 kids to register to fish.
Registration is free. Donations are accepted to defray the costs of the 400 trout that will be stocked for the fishing derby. Trophies will also be awarded for first, second and third place in several categories.
Light refreshments are available for a minimal charge.

Scouts host spaghetti dinner
Boy Scout Troop 98 hosts a spaghetti and meatball dinner/fundraiser on April 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 58 East Broadway.
The cost is $5 per person and includes salad, entree, dessert and beverages.

Get rid of household hazardous waste
Derry hosts its spring household hazardous waste collection event on May 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at West Running Brook Middle School.
Residents with materials like pesticides, paints, solvents/degreasers, pool chemicals and household cleaners can drop them off at the collection event. For information or a complete list of items to be collected, call recycling coordinator Joanie Cornetta at 432-4650 or visit derry-nh.org.
There are games for everyone
The Marion Gerrish Community Center offers a full schedule of game fun for senior citizens.
A senior games group meets Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. On Friday, a senior cribbage group meets from 9 to 11 a.m. and Forty-Fives is played every Friday at 1 p.m.
