---- — DERRY — It’s time for The Upper Room to honor everyone who volunteers at the family resource facility and supports its programs.
Every year, the Upper Room hosts a reception to honor its neighbors, volunteers, community partners and supporters.
This year’s event is March 25 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the center, 36 Tsienneto Road.
The reception is an open house-style event, giving attendees a chance to speak with staff and program participants.
The keynote speaker this year is Londonderry resident Tom Bever, who will share stories of his adventures hiking the Appalachian Trail while raising money to support The Upper Room.
Also, the annual Bill Burke Award for Service will be presented to a special volunteer.
“Each year, the Upper Room serves over 14,000 individuals and that wouldn’t be possible without the support of the community,” reception coordinator Angelica Ladd said. “We are grateful to all our generous neighbors, volunteers and community partners, and look forward to celebrating the achievements of The Upper Room with them.”
Refreshments will be provided for the event by La Carreta Mexican restaurant and also culinary arts students from Pinkerton Academy and their own Astro Cafe.
The first 50 people to register for the reception receive a $10 coupon donated by T-Bones Great American Eatery and Cactus Jack’s.
