SPECTATOR

Slicing up Chester

A local pizza restaurant advertises its delivery service on a big sign out front: "We deliver to some of Chester ..."

Hopefully, the part reaping the rewards of the pies are happy to hear it's their neighborhood on the list.

Scare tactics

Last week, Pinkerton video students got some realistic zombie makeovers, thanks to local makeup artist Rob Fitz. Students were scheduled to roam campus in their gory garb to scare up some action for a video project they were filming.

A Birch Heights Retirement Facility van was parked outside the Astro Cafe, where zombies were scheduled to visit for a scary lunch break.

What's in a name?

YMCA of Greater Londonderry staffer Lisa Fitzgerald said Schaefer Mortgage was a huge benefactor for the facility's new in-ground pool, set to officially open June 9. The pool, therefore, is named the Schaefer Community Pool.

"They have the pool naming rights," Fitzgerald said.

Song in your heart?

The Londonderry Senior Center is looking for those who can carry a tune.

A new choral group will be forming and all are welcome. The members as a team will choose the name for the group.

Perfect Sundays

For Ethan Rider, it's been a perfect run. Ethan, a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Derry, received his 11th consecutive perfect attendance award for Sunday School participation.

Susan Varney, Sunday School director, said Ethan's performance rivaled the faithful teachers who were there every week.
