Strap on your snowshoes
Go Green Derry presents its annual snowshoe event Feb. 8 from noon to 3 p.m. at Broadview Farm off Young Road.
There will be snowshoes to try, hiking, hot cocoa and a bonfire. All are invited to come out, snow or not, to enjoy this town-owned property.

Used books for sale
Friends of the Derry Libraries host a book sale Feb. 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Derry Public Library, 64 East Broadway.
Many children’s titles will be available. Proceeds will support library programs and be used to purchase museum passes for library patrons.
Learn about the Underground Railroad
Derry Public Library presents a talk and slide show on the history of the Underground Railroad Feb. 8 at 1:30 p.m. The presentation will be given by Eleanor Strang, retired director of Kelley Library in Salem.
Strang has strong interests in American history and has presented this event at many libraries and other venues.

Library hosts Robert Frost event
Derry Public Library presents “The Day That Made Robert Frost,” featuring town historian Richard Holmes, on Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the library.
Holmes will be joined by local poet Robert Crawford for a program on the famed poet, who lived in Derry for a decade and taught English at nearby Pinkerton Academy.
Holmes is writing a new book on Frost and will offer participants a look into his life. The library also has an art exhibit by area artists based on Frost poems.

Free spaghetti supper planned
West Running Brook Middle School offers a free dinner as part of the community’s free meal network. The meal is Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. at the school’s cafeteria.
