DERRY — The Derry Seventh Day Adventist Church observed its 10th anniversary on the Sabbath, Dec. 6. Rhoda Watson presented Leona Lampro with a yellow rose corsage. Leona was the first official member of the church. She was baptized on Aug. 28, 1999, before any others had their names transferred from their original churches.
A well-attended Pot Luck dinner was held in the fellowship hall. Our program opened with a solo by Tacyana Behrmann, Rhoda Watson read a story of the early years of our present church building. Paston Behrmann gave a brief message, followed by comments from Pastor Phil Johnson. Many others gave their testimonies with tidbits of humor added, which brought much laughter. We closed the program by singing "When We All Get To Heaven" accompanied by Ivy Corrigan.
Booklets were given to each family about the beginning of the church building and the church history.
Six church scrapbooks were displayed dating from 1998 until 2008. Folks enjoyed looking them over and finding pictures of themselves.
Old friends, new friends and everyday friends enjoyed the events and laughter of a joyous celebration.
