Derry Public Library upcoming events
Wednesday, Sept. 10, 6:30 p.m. John Rockwood's narrated Nature - a slide show featuring New England wildlife including photos of loons, hummingbirds, moose and other regional creatures. John Rockwood has had numerous photos published in nature magazines and has been a featured speaker at the Moultonborough, N.H., Loon Center and Massabesic Audubon Center in Auburn, N.H. The program is free and open to all.
Saturday, Sept. 20 (during Derryfest) 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Book Sale - Hardcover's- $1.00, paperbacks - $.50. T-shirts, book bags and notepaper are also for sale. Look for bargain selections and special pricing on children's books.
Readers' Group - Book Discussions, Thursday, Sept. 25 - 7 p.m. - "The Looming Tower: Al Qaeda and the Road to 9/11" by Lawrence Wright. This fascinating book is for anyone interested in the origins of Al-Qaeda and the Middle East conflicts of the 20th & 21st centuries. Book discussions are open to all; no registration required. Future selections are chosen by book discussion attendees at the monthly meeting. Join us to help select future titles for the group to read.
Museum Passes - The Derry Public Library has the following passes available for patrons: Boston Museum of Science, Canterbury Shaker Village, Christa McAuliffe Planetarium, Currier Museum of Art, The Fells Historic Estate & Gardens, Millyard Museum, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of New Hampshire History and the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Mass. Passes may be reserved up to two weeks in advance. Availability is limited and some restrictions apply.
