The YWCA had approached UNH three years ago asking for help finding a way to track donations and donors.
Students began tackling the task and Meehan then put the solutions into place once he became a Y intern.
“It makes a huge difference for us,” YWCA director of operations and administration Cathy Gagne said. “We’ve had significant funding cuts over the past few years and we don’t have the funds to do something like this ourselves. This project helped us move forward.”
VFW announce scholarship programs
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1617 and Ladies Auxiliary offer three scholarship programs. The Voice of Democracy is open to high school students. The theme this year is “Is Our Constitution Still Relevant?” Entries must be received by Nov. 1.
Another scholarship is the Patriots Pen written essay contest with the theme “What I Would Tell America’s Founding Fathers.” Students must be in grades 6, 7 or 8 and entries are due by Nov. 1.
The third contest is the Young American Creative Patriotic Awards contest. Students must be in grads 9-12. Entries should be postmarked by March 31, 2012.
All contests award cash scholarship prizes for winning entries.
