---- — Stepping Stones hosts family event

Stepping Stones preschool in Derry hosts a Family Fun Day on Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The day includes games, music, food and other activities for families.

All proceeds will benefit the school's scholarship fund.

Parkland names new CFO

Parkland Medical Center named Jacob Wiesmann as its new Chief Financial Officer. He comes to the Derry hospital after serving as controller at Rose Medical Center in Denver.

Parkland's chief executive officer Tina Legere said she is proud to welcome Wisemann to the team.

First Parish hosts harvest supper

For more than 75 years, there has been a tradition in Derry that brings out people from all over the area looking for a great autumn meal.

First Parish Church, 47 East Derry Road, offers its annual Harvest Supper on Oct. 20 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The menu includes a turkey dinner with all the fixings. Tickets are available the night of the dinner or in advance by calling the church office at 434-0628.

The cost is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for children.

Downtown hosts trick-or-treat event

Derry celebrates the season with its annual Downtown Trick or Treat schedule of events on Oct. 20.

A costume parade kicks off the day at 11:30 a.m. at Veterans Hall, 31 West Broadway. The event is for infants and children up through age 12.

Downtown trick or treat action then follows from noon to 3 p.m. with particiapting businesses on Broadway, Crystal Avenue and Hood Commons opening their doors to children and their families.

Halloween night trick or treat hours Oct. 31 are from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Save energy at home

Derry's Energy and Environmental Advisory Committee sponsors a free "Energy Savings for the Home" seminar on Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at Derry Public Library, 64 East Broadway.

Learn about simple things to do to save energy and money as heating season arrives. Subjects to be discussed include windows, attic insulation and much more.

Workers volunteer at marion Gerrish

In recognition of its 30th year in business, Work Opportunities Unlimited celebrated Columbus Day on Oct. 8 in service to others. Employees in the Salem/Derry area spent the day volunteering at the Marion Gerrish Community Center.

The community center recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, offering meeting space and programs to more than 150 groups and organizations.

Garden club to meet

The Derry Garden Club meets on Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Derry, 40 Hampstead Road.

The program is the annual auction and Ways and Means table, followed by a harvest lunch.

Upper Room hosts 'Red Carpet' event

The Upper Room, a family resource center, hosts its 11th annual Family Matters auction and dinner on Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. at Promises to Keep on Rockingham Road.

The evening includes celebrity impersonators, food, silent and live auction.

Items up for bid include sports tickets, jewelry, theater and dinner packages, golf outings, vacation packages, cooking lessons and much more.
