Field hockey campers stick with it

DERRY — There was heat, humidity and hockey at Rider field last week during the annual Astros' Shoot for the Stars field hockey camp.

Pinkerton Academy hosts the camp every summer for new and veteran players who want to improve their skills when school is out.

The camp, run by Pinkerton coach Denise Rioux, welcomed campers in fifth grade through high school.

The girls practiced dribbling around obstacles, scooping balls up and in, air dribbling and much more.

Despite it being one of the hottest weeks of a very hot summer, the campers stayed focused and worked hard.

There was time for some fun, too, including dressing as cowgirls and galloping around the field.
