DERRY — The Republican Town Committee opened its political office Wednesday night with Sen. John Sununu and former Congressman Jeb Bradley in attendance.

The office is at the MacWac Mortgage Building on West Broadway.

It's been a big week for Derry Republicans, because they also played host to the state convention last weekend, where the party voted to continue with the 2006 party platform for another two years.

Jim Foley, committee president, praised the convention held at Pinkerton Academy's Stockbridge Theater, as "pretty straightforward" and a good opportunity for Republican leaders to rally around their candidates.

"It was a real kind of unity convention," he said.

Foley said the group had pushed for a few years to have the state convention held in Derry, a town that has been a Republican stronghold.
