---- — DERRY — When police responded to a burglary alarm last week at 5 Lorri Drive, they thought a suspect might still be inside the home.
Derry police responded first early Thursday afternoon, then two Salem officers and a K-9 arrived to help out.
Police announced to whomever might have been inside the house was surrounded. No one emerged. Police then searched the house with the dog.
Nothing was missing and police believe someone was scared off after triggering the home’s security system.
A first-floor air conditioner had been pushed through a window, triggering the alarm, Lt. Kevin Marshall said.
A neighbor said there have been a number of burglaries in the area.
Marshall confirmed there have been break-ins and burglaries in that area in the past.
“We are just thankful that our security system prevented any theft or property damage,” the homeowner said.
