LONDONDERRY — A 35-year-old registered sex offender was arrested by police for failing to inform police that he was moving from a Londonderry apartment to Hudson.
Kenneth Doubleday, formerly of 6B Parmenter Road, turned himself in to police on Wednesday, Aug. 20 on charges he failed to tell police that he changed his job and moved to Hudson in June.
Doubleday was convicted of three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14 in a Lowell, Mass., court 18 years ago, according to a police affidavit.
On July 22, police received a call from the state because Doubleday was required to renew his registration as a sex offender, but the paperwork could not be delivered because he had already moved from Londonderry, according to the affidavit.
Doubleday told police he had been in the process of moving to Hudson since June 2 and had been staying at both locations for the last month, the affidavit said.
"Despite his excuses and justifications for not reporting the changes of information, he never once telephoned the Londonderry Police Department in June 2008 to report that he signed a lease in Hudson, NH and was living there with his family," Detective Patrick Cheetham wrote in the affidavit.
Doubleday also never informed police that had works for Stevie D's in Salem or that he was an employee at Canobie Lake Park for about three weeks this summer, according to the affidavit.
Sex offenders are required to inform police any time they change employment or their address, according to state law.
Doubleday has been released on personal recognizance bail. No court date has been scheduled.
