Woman faces multiple forgery charges

BRENTWOOD — A 39-year-old former Derry woman has been indicted by a Rockingham County Grand Jury on 24 felony and misdemeanor counts of theft.

The indictment, made available last week, charge Samantha Jewell with 12 felony counts of forgery and 12 misdemeanor counts of theft by unauthorized taking.

Jewell, who also used the alias Samantha O'Connell, stole money from Daniel Souza's Sovereign Bank account 12 times between December 2006 and February 2007, according to the indictment.

Jewell's last known address was 48 South Avenue, No. 4, in Derry, according to the indictment.

Each felony charge carries a penalty of three and a half to seven years in prison a fine of up to $4,000. Each misdemeanor charge carries a penalty of up to one year in prison and a $1,000 fine.
