DERRY — Police have charged a 19-year-old Derry man with two felony counts of assault after he allegedly pushed a man off a bridge last month.

William Kevorkian of 5 Brook St. was drinking with two other people, Gabrielle Totoyian and John Lang, on the bridge near the bikepath behind Chelmsford Hardy Place when he pushed Lang off of the bridge, according to a police affidavit.

Kevorkian left the other two for about 10 minutes, and when he returned he punched Lang in the face before the fall, according to the affidavit.

"Lang said that Kevorkian then pushed him in the back, causing him to fall 14 feet onto the rocks and mud below the bridge," Officer Jeffrey Pike wrote in the affidavit.

Lang broke his collar bone and had swelling in his head and several lacerations to his body, according to the affidavit.

Totoyian told police she witnessed the fight but Kevorkian told her to leave before Lang fell off the bridge, according to the affidavit.

Kevorkian, who has a lengthy arrest record with several charges of assault, has been charged with two felony counts of second-degree assault and a misdemeanor charge of simple assault.

He is being held on $10,000 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in Derry District Court on July 10 for a probable cause hearing.
