LONDONDERRY — Police arrested a 32-year-old Manchester man on Tuesday, April 22, for charges of driving recklessly and without a license earlier this month.
Michael Sawtelle, of 795 Elm St., nearly hit several vehicles and drove through multiple red lights while avoiding police on April 3, according to a police affidavit.
Detective Adam Dyer wrote in the affidavit that while driving an unmarked cruiser through a Route 102 parking lot, he was almost hit by Sawtelle. Dyer continued to follow Sawtelle but lost him after he ran a red light at the intersection of Route 102 and Interstate 93 at a high rate of speed, according to the affidavit.
Two other officers also attempted to catch up with Sawtelle in the area of Litchfield Road but could not catch up to him, according to the affidavit.
Sawtelle has been charged with three counts of disobeying an officer, driving after suspension, reckless operation and speeding. He turned himself in to police on Tuesday at 4 p.m. after police spoke with his attorney, according to the affidavit. He is being held on $5,000 cash bail pending a court date in Derry District Court.
