Hundreds of area volunteers spent one day last week helping others.

The annual United Way Day of Caring brought out hundreds of volunteers from businesses and organizations all over the region to help out with tasks and work at United Way agencies.

Volunteers spent the day performing a variety of projects at agencies in Derry and around the region, including painting and cleaning, general upkeep, office work and outdoor projects.

In Derry, Vintage Grace on Peabody Road received help from United Way volunteers, as did the Upper Room on Tsienneto Road, a regular recipient of United Way Day of Caring help.
