CHESTER — The Chester Youth Baseball/Softball League will be hosting its annual Field Day at the Chester Academy Fields April 19 from noon to 6 p.m. and April 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The season-opening event is run yearly to clean and prepare the fields for league play.

The event usually sees between 25 to 40 volunteers, up to 50 volunteers on what league Board of Directors President Ed Godin calls "a good day".

"We're hoping for a good turnout... we usually get a good turnout," said Godin, despite facing the possibility of rain showers.

Chester's youth league has been running for over 30 years according to Godin, and has had a Field Day each year for as long as he can remember.
