CHESTER — More than 100 donors have provided items for the second annual Chester Academy PTA auction fundraiser on Saturday, March 29.
The fundraiser includes both live and silent auctions, as well as dinner and a dance.
The donations for the event have been provided by vendors such as Shaw's and Hannaford's, as well as local sponsors including Myer's Construction, Like Nu Auto Body, Chester Preschool and Chester Hardware.
Although most of the auctions will be silent, several highly anticipated items will be on live auction.
The 10 items up for live auction include an autographed baseball by Boston Red Sox shortstop Julio Lugo, luxury box tickets for a Manchester Wolves game, reserved seats at the Pinkerton Academy graduation and reserved seats and parking for the eighth-grade Chester Academy graduation. Attendees will also be able to bid to be the principal and vice principal of the day at Chester Academy.
The auction raises money for PTA sponsored programs at Chester academy, such as additional educational programming, after-school enrichment and school assemblies.
According to PTA President Jodie Antoine, this is the only spring fundraiser by the PTA. The PTA also runs a fall fundraiser in which students sell magazine subscriptions.
"We're anticipating a really good turnout," said Antoine. "Last year we had just under 100 people, but we were contending with the weather."
Despite the weather difficulties, the event still raised approximately $3,000, according to Antoine.
This year, the event features twice the previous number of auction items, and guests can reserve tables in advance. Antoine hopes that this will increase the turnout on Saturday.
Cost of admission is $10. The event is 21+ and alcohol is allowed, but not supplied. Guests can reserve a table in advance by visiting the main office at Chester Academy and speaking with Deb Verrier.
