LONDONDERRY — Aspiring young musicians were invited to check out the instruments and talk to members of Londonderry High School's music program May 9 before the third annual children's concert in the school's gymnasium.
More than 150 parents and children attended the event. They enjoyed hands-on experiences with musical instruments and demonstrations by the older students during the pre-concert Music Fair.
During the concert, the young guests were invited to help conduct the musicians or sit by the student playing their favorite instrument.
The event was held by the music department with the Tri-M Music Honors Society, and ended with a Grand March inside the gym.
The talented musicians of the LHS Music Department have performed at the Berklee Jazz Fest, the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade, on the ice at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and in last year's Rose Bowl Parade. The LHS Symphonic Band will perform at the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Memorial event on May 18 at 10 a.m. at the Statehouse in Concord.
On May 28, the Marching Lancer Band and Color Guard will take part in Londonderry's annual Memorial Day ceremony.
