The sky was blue, the day perfect for Memorial Day ceremonies in Derry and Londonderry Monday.
Residents and visitors came out to honor those who gave their lives while serving the country in the military.
In Londonderry, parade participants and spectators traveled from Londonderry High School to the Town Common for a ceremony honoring deceased veterans.
American Legion Post 27 led the parade down Mammoth Road. The Marching Lancers provided the music.
In Derry, the parade left Hood Commons and made its way to MacGregor Park. There, wreaths were laid at veterans memorials and guest speakers addressed the sacrifice these men and women made for the country.
Members of American Legion Post 9 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1617 participated in the solemn day. The Patriot Guard Riders formed a flag line for the services in MacGregor Park.
