Derry News

---- — DERRY — Anyone interested in flight and flying radio-controlled aircraft can stop by the fifth annual New England Radio Control Fly-In event on June 29 and 30.

The New Hampshire Flying Tigers Radio Control Club, along with other local clubs, will be on hand to demonstrate their aircraft and flying skills.

The event is held both days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Flying Tigers airfield on B Street in Derry. This is the fifth year for the fly-in.

There will be a variety of aircraft including helicopters, gliders, aerobatic planes and scale models on display. The public is invited to not only watch the experts demonstrate their flying techniques, but also try their own hand at flying a radio control airplane.

This year the two-day event will be broken into two topics, with Saturday focusing on fixed-wing aircraft and on Sunday helicopters will take center stage.

In addition to the flying demonstrations, there will be food and raffles. There will be door prizes for participating pilots.

Although admission is free, spectators are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to support Derry’s Sonshine Soup Kitchen.

The fly-in will offer people a chance to learn more about this popular hobby and view the latest in equipment. There will also be time to ask the experts questions about their aircraft.

For directions to the airfield or other information, visit the NH Flying Tigers at or call Paul Lockwood at 437-2847.
