---- — DERRY — The Irish band Dervish plays the Stockbridge Theatre at Pinkerton Academy in a benefit concert March 7 at 7:30 p.m.
The concert will support 29-year-old Derry native Melissa Carroll, who is battling Ewing Sarcoma and is being treated at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dervish began in 1989 as a group of five musicians, with four of the original members still active and playing. The group travels all over the world as a leading force in Irish music.
The stop in Derry is part of the band’s U.S. tour.
