As families and students enjoyed time off from work and school last week a post-Christmas storm packed a snowy punch and dropped several inches of snow on the region.
Derry and Londonderry received about 8 inches with other towns receiving lesser amounts or even just rain.
But with school out the amount of cars on the road was kept to a minimum which helped the plows get their work done.
Police and emergency crews were also kept busy helping with many of the accidents occurring on the slippery roadways and side streets.
While the snow was still fresh many families and children headed to some of the area’s most popular sledding spots including the hills behind Mack’s Apples farm stand in Londonderry.
