Greater Derry's Got Talent show need performers

DERRY — Anyone with a talent for singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or even juggling is invited to sign up for this year’s Greater Derry’s Got Talent show.

The annual talent event will be held in September with preliminary auditions taking place Aug. 27 and 28 at Dance Progressions, 109 Hillside Avenue, Derry.

The show is hosted by the Greater Derry Arts Council.

Applications are now being accepted for those who wish to try out. The cost to enter is $15.

The first preliminary round show is scheduled for Sept. 14 at the Derry Opera House at 4 p.m. Entrants can bring a karaoke-style background CD to the audition, if needed.

The final top 10 then go on to compete on Sept. 14 at the Opera House at 7 p.m. The top three will have the opportunity to perform at Derryfest in MacGregor Park on Sept. 21.

Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges, along with votes from the audience. With paid admission to the show, audience members get one ticket to vote for a favorite performer. Audience members can also buy additional votes.

The top three will receive prizes and cash from sponsors.

The show is geared toward being a family-friendly performance.

Deadline for entries is Aug. 20. Applications are available at derryarts.org. Call for information at 432-2129 or email to talent@derryarts.org.

The annual Greater Derry’s Got Talent show is an Arts Council fundraiser.
