---- — DERRY — The Red Stars hit the Derry Opera House stage Saturday night, Dec. 14, with a cast of 35 reindeer, angels, Rockette style performances, a princess wanting a prince for Christmas and, of course, the jolly man in a red suit who will pose for pictures after the show.
There is music from every decade, creating a show for all ages.
“The Bells of Christmas Present” is an original story written by Red Star director Gina Hutchinson, with accompanying routines choreographed by Hutchinson and assistants KeriAnn Lynch and Ashley Tiller. It tells the story of how the bells of Christmas can make dreams come true.
The show is the second year as a benefit for the Derry Community Fund and the Derry News Santa Fund. It has been in the works since August, is a full production, but can be seen for a small donation of $5.
Last Saturday night, the Red Stars performed the first show in Newport, Hutchinson’s hometown, to a full house to benefit The Willey-Perra Community Giving Program.
Saturday night’s show at the Derry Opera House, will feature Intermediate Miss Majorette of America, 10-year-old Emily Cowette of Londonderry; two Miss Outstanding Teen winners, Jaycie Greenberg of Windham and Allie Nault of Mancheste;, and Miss Capital Area, Jessica Avelar of Nashua.
Performers come from all over Southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. Half of the cast is from Derry.
