LONDONDERRY — It’s an annual event to help celebrate the season.
Families gathered on the Town Common Sunday afternoon to enjoy visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, sip hot cocoa and decorate rows of small trees to be lit later once darkness fell.
The Londonderry Rotary Club, along with other community groups, have organized the event for more than 20 years.
Local clubs, Scout troops and churches decorated the 24 trees placed on the Common to prepare for the celebration. Groups adopt the trees and decorate them with many original designs to stand on the Common for the entire season.
Earlier in the day, Santa was seen standing along Mammoth Road waving to passing cars before heading across the street to greet children at the Common.
Trees will remain lit on the Common all through the holidays.
