DERRY — Derry kicked off the holidays in style Saturday.
The Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual downtown holiday parade, complete with floats, marching bands, horses and community spirit.
Janet Conroy, this year’s Citizen of the Year, rode in style in one of Dr. Timothy Butterfield’s classic carriages, pulled along by a team of jet black horses.
Business of the Year Mr. Steer market and owner Chris George also was in the holiday spotlight.
Derry Village Rotarians walked the parade route with shopping carts, collecting food and cash for the annual collection to benefit local food pantries.
Following the parade, festivities downtown continued as families enjoyed “A Very Derry Holiday” schedule, including visits with Santa, crafts, special music and treats.
