---- — DERRY — Students who love to build robots converged on Pinkerton Academy’s Hackler gym Saturday for a day of mechanical challenges.
Pinkerton hosted the Astro VEX Blast-Off Robotics competition at the school, joining about three dozen teams together for a day of robotic action.
Teams spent the day doing battle with their homegrown creations using the VEX Robotics Design System.
Innovation First is a sponsor of the school’s year-long VEX series and is a leader in educational robotics products.
Pinkerton has hosted a robotics team since the 1990s, with school teams scoring big in several competitions through the years, including at national events.
The competition Saturday was one of a full schedule of robotics challenges that brought students, their mechanical minds and robots together to do battle against other schools.
