LONDONDERRY — Donors lined up to give blood, then enjoy some of the homemade snacks offered Nov. 16 by the St. Jude Parish Community Service Committee at its annual Fall American Red Cross Blood Drive.
The drive, held in the Parish Hall, was designed to help meet the increased demand for blood following Hurricane Sandy. The storm forced the cancellation of many blood drives, due to power outages and severe weather conditions.
The Red Cross was reporting it had less than a few days of available blood products for the New England region, a supply necessary for routine operations, emergency surgeries and more.
St. Jude volunteers provided donors with homemade treats as a show of appreciation. Chef Jim, once again, cooked up steaming pots of his popular chili and chicken soup.
