Radio control day supports wounded soldiers

Flying Tigers host Heli-Fun Day

DERRY — Airplanes and helicopters took flight over Derry this weekend during Heli-Fun Day at the New Hampshire Flying Tigers airfield off B Street.

Although Saturday focused on helicopters, flying fans came out to see other vehicles in action.

The Flying Tigers host annual summer events to showcase radio-control flying techniques and planes. The event Saturday was a benefit to support the Wounded Warriors Project.

Fans of radio control planes and helicopters enjoyed flying all day and into the night.

Those who did not fly were able to watch the lofty action from the sidelines.

Flying enthusiasts say the sport of radio-control flying is becoming more popular with people of all ages.

The Flying Tigers will host another “fly-in” weekend event Saturday, June 21, and Sunday, June 22, at the B Street airfield in Derry. Flying begins both days at 10 a.m. and run until 4 p.m. Call 437-2847 for information.
