Synagogue’s free talks continue

DERRY — The Bris and Its Origins will be the topic of a free talk by Dr. Alan Green at Etz Hayim Synagogue Thursday, June 5, from 7 to 8 p.m.

Green is a retired obstetrician, an active member of Temple Beth Abraham in Nashua, and a mohel who performs the ritual circumcision (bris). He will discuss why and how Jews perform the bris, from biblical times to the present day.

Refreshments will be served. No registration is required. This is part of a series, “Key Issues in Contemporary Judaism.”Etz Hayim invites everyone to attend.

Etz Hayim Synagogue is located at 1 ½ Hood Road.

DERRY — Churches in the area continue offering free meals through the Community Meals Network.

The schedule includes the following meals: Seventh Day Adventist Church, lunch, noon to 1 p.m., June 8; Church of the Transfiguration, dinner served at 5 p.m., June 8; Seventh Day Adventist Church, lunch, noon to 1 p.m., June 15.

Clothing giveaway set for June 14

DERRY — Renew Clothing Ministry will be open Saturday, June 14, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Arrive by 10 a.m. so there is time to shop before closing.

Renew will be closed in July. The ministry is designed to help families in need or on a budget, but also welcomes families and individuals of all income levels and from any town.

Renew gives away free gently used apparel that has been donated by the community, and sorted and organized by volunteers. Enter at the Calvary Bible Church marquee sign at 145 Hampstead Road. Renew will be on the right.

Each household may take up to 20 of the newest items, plus unlimited (within reason for household size) of the older items.

There is a need for summer clothing and summer shoes Donations of good condition, modern clothing may be placed in the donation bin by the door at any time. No housewares, toys or bedding are accepted.
