Free public lecture set at Etz Hayim

DERRY — Stephen Landau will speak about “Terrorism and the American Jewish Community” at Etz Hayim Synagogue on May 22, from 7 to 8 p.m.

A retired member of the FBI, Landau has helped develop the early response to terrorism against the Jewish community in the northeastern United States, a topic of great importance to Jews. Refreshments will be served. No registration is required.

This is part of a series, “Key Issues in Contemporary Judaism.” The event is open to the public.

Free community meals planned

DERRY — There will be a free meal on May 18 at Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 1 Hood Road, Derry, and a free meal on May 25 at Etz Hayim Synagogue, 1-1/2 Hood Road, Derry.

Both meals start at 5 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

The meals are hosted by Elijah’s Table, a joint venture of the church and synagogue.

Spiritual ‘chat’ offered May 28

DERRY — An Eckankar Spiritual Chat is planned on May 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Upper Village Hall, 52 East Derry Road. This is free and open to the public.

Installation service set at First Parish

DERRY — The installation service for the Rev. Deborah Roof is June 1 at 1 p.m. at First Parish Congregational Church, 47 East Derry Road.

This service is the formal process to affirm Roof’s call to serve First Parish. A reception will be held in the church’s Currier Hall. Call 434-0628.
