LONDONDERRY — The all-female, boot-stompin’, alt-country-rock band Antigone Rising will play at Tupelo Music Hall, 2 Young Road, on April 26.
Antigone Rising is the first band on Starbuck’s Hear Music that exploded into the spotlight for selling more than 150,000 copies of their debut LP, and more recently for having its co-founding member, Kristen Henderson, featured on the envelope-pushing cover of Time Magazine’s Equality issue.
Antigone Rising has recently announced the release “Whiskey & Wine - Volume 1” and “Whiskey & Wine - Volume 2” for 2014.
Volume 1 dropped on March 25 and the first single, “That Was the Whiskey,” co-written with Nashville songwriter Lori McKenna, is now nominated in the “Country Song” Category in the 13th Annual Independent Music Awards.
After touring with such prestigious acts as The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, The Allman Brothers Band, The Bangles and Rob Thomas, and traveling to the Middle East, spending time in Israel and the West Bank as cultural ambassadors for the U.S. Embassy, Antigone Rising introduced the single “That Was the Whiskey” with the accompanying video which premiered on CMT trending in the Top 10.
The band includes Nini Camps (lead singer), Dena Tauriello (drums), and founding sisters Kristen Henderson (bass/vocals) and Cathy Henderson (guitar/vocals).
Tickets are available at tickets.tupelohall.com.
The Naked Stills will open. The show begins at 8 p.m.
